“Water is often the symbol of love because, like love, it cleanses and purifies; like love is takes the shape of any container it fills in the act of complete surrender, and yet goes free as soon as it is released. Like love it is paradoxical: it is soft and yielding and yet can wear down the hardest rock; it is life-giving, but can take life as well; it is gentle but when roused is utterly destructive. Love, like water, has both a binding quality, as it joins people, families and nations together; but on the other hand, it dissolves and carries away substances such as hatred and selfishness where they can be purified and cleansed. It is a catalyst for change but remains unaffected”
Quoted Genesis; “Love knows no measure but is fervent above measure. Love feels no burden, disdains no labours, would willingly do more than it can; complains not of impossibility, because it conceives it may and can do all things. It is able therefore to do anything and it performs and effects many things where he that loves not faints and lies down.
“Love watches, and sleeping slumbers not; when weary is not tires, when straitened is not constrained; when frightened is not disturbed; but like a lovely flame and a torch all on fire, it mounts ever upward and securely passes through all opposition”
Love is unlimited and made for sharing, yet we tend to only love a few rather than the many, this is a shame. We can’t expect to like everyone but we can love everyone. Love is possible regardless of the circumstance. If you do love each and every person then what more do you want? Maybe the Beatles were right when they said “all you need is love”. Love sometimes means letting go otherwise we can be seen as over protective or smothering. It can require patience or persevience. Loving another can be just letting them be and appreciating them for who they are, not as we wish them to be. We love our children not matter how they act. So love is unconditional and unlimited so love all, you can love the criminal but abhor his crime. Love separates the person from their action. So maybe life’s lessons are how to love and how to love well.
Quote St Pauls letter to the Corinthians; “Love is patient, love is kind, it doesn’t boast nor envy, it is not proud, not rude, not self-serving, not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs, does not delight in evil, but rejoices in truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes. Love prevails and love never fails.”
Quote Matthew, The Bible; “Ye have heard that it hath been said, thou shalt love thy neighbour and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and prosecute you”.
